This instrument combines the features of microsurgical and anatomical forceps in order to reduce the amount of instruments and thereby the frequency of switching instruments while sewing. More precisely, these anatomical forceps are changing into surgical forceps at the anterior part of the instrument. When you slightly press the instrument handles, only the anterior part of the forceps will close. Hereby you can grasp the tissue while preparing or sewing with minimal trauma, because the flat anatomical part of the forceps is not closed yet. Only when the pressure is increased the prolonged plateau tips will close which allows for a secure grasping and knotting of the very fine, microsurgical suture material (7-0, 8-0). To withstand the strain, the branches of the forceps are enhanced with carbide.
